LONGSHOT THE MOOSE
The Saratoga Race Course has been known to attract visitors from all over the world. However, on June 15th, 2009 a very unexpected visitor showed up at the front gate. It was a 1½ year old, 500 pound COW MOOSE… Holly Cow!!! After a few hours of playing hard to get with the New York Racing Authorities, the moose was safely corralled and transported back to its home in the Lake Desolation area. People came from all over with excitement to see the moose and say goodbye. It was on that day and that moose that inspired Vicki Addesso Dodd to create her MOOSE IN MY STABLE series. This moose became a star in Saratoga. His name is Longshot The Moose. You can see Longshot at most local events and fundraisers throughout the area. Longshot The Moose has also made a home for himself at the Saratoga Automobile Museum sporting his all new race car wear.
